Before we are going to dig deeper the above subject, first we must understand the creation that God created the world and humanity. We knew that Adam & Eve were the first humans created by God and places them in the Garden of Eden. Both of them were originally and literally naked but they were not ashamed. Only then they realized that they were naked after they had sinned, as it says in Genesis 3:7: "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves."
It was clearly understood that Adam and Eve did not wear clothes in the Garden of Eden before they sinned. Only after sin that clothing was needed for them to cover their shame and because of sin, knowledge came of self-awareness and self-consciousness that defects both physical and spiritual of human being.
Perhaps, you may ask why Adam and Eve felt the need to cover themselves? In fact, they were the only two people on earth that time. Why they were ashamed? Certainly, Sin affected immediately their eyes were opened, they realized that they were naked and shame exposing the human reproductive organs.
This is the fact that validates the literal interpretation of the history of Adam and Eve in the Bible the book of Genesis where most theologians called the “doctrine of clothing”. I can’t imagine if Adam and Eve did not commit sin, perhaps all of us now were naked and there would be no clothing factory industry around the world.
Today, clothes are one of the basic needs of a human being that it is used to cover our body and to protect it from extreme weather conditions. We are aware that clothing was not an issue during the time of Adam and Eve but because of their sin, all the descendants are sinners. So, clothes are essential thing and necessity for everyone to prevent the sin of lust and sins of fornication. We will not argue about this thing because it is very clear that because of sin clothing is necessary. In order to prevent that people not to sin, we must clothe ourselves with a proper dress, modestly and cautiously.
There are so many different kinds of dresses and styles for different activity of life for every different times of day and occasion. People spend so much money to wear the latest trends. But the question is, are you wearing dress that pleases and glorify God? Do you encourage others by the t-shirt you wear that uplift their soul, inspire and point to Jesus?
